Stacey Wood, LMFT

Beginning a search for a therapist can be a time consuming and daunting task, and yet opening yourself to the idea that someone might be able to help you is a genuine act of courage. Please let me know if there are any questions I can answer for you along the way...

In both my personal and professional experience, Therapy is about finding your way back home to your Self. It is about discovering and healing the unhelpful beliefs, perspectives, coping strategies, and judgements we adopt over the course of our lives to protect ourselves but which may no longer serve us. The process of therapy is about getting to know your Self with more curiosity, clarity, and compassion, so that you can live the life you hope for.

To do this work takes a certain amount of vulnerability, and for some of us that is the scary part... "I don't want to lay out all my emotional baggage or talk about some of the things that have happened to me."  Well, rest assured that therapy is not about laying yourself emotionally bare - it is about sharing what you are able to share when you are ready to share it. We all have to feel safe enough inside ourselves to risk being vulnerable... it is an essential part of exploring how we come to be who we are. It isn't about weakness or being broken - it is about having the willingness to feel into uncertainty and risk exploration; that is how we change our lives.

And that is what I do: I help you create a safe and comfortable space, where curiosity, exploration, excavation, communication, courage, creativity, connectedness, and compassion work together to change your life for the better.

Your journey starts with a phone call or an email requesting a complimentary phone consultation; this way I can understand what you are seeking counseling for, and to see if we both feel we are a good match. I will look forward to speaking with you. ~ Stacey

Heart

"The time will come, when,

with elation, you will greet your Self

arriving at your own door, in your own

mirror, and each will smile at the

other’s welcome—and say, 'Sit here. Eat'."

"You will love again the stranger who

is your Self.

Give wine. Give bread. Give back your

heart to itself, to the stranger who has loved

you all your life, whom you have ignored for another."

-Derek Walcott
